MediaSense 2012: Summer School on Multi-modal Data Analytics

21st - 22nd May 2012, Dublin City University, Ireland

VideoSense is organising its first Summer School on the 21st - 22nd May 2012 at the Dublin City University, Ireland. This first summer school aims at bringing together young researchers working in the field of multimedia content analysis, offering

  • lectures delivered by experts from academy and industry providing a clear and in-depth summary of state-of-the-art research in the field
  • enjoyable and stimulating environment in which participants will benefit not only from the formal and practical sessions but also from informal and social interactions with established researchers and the other participants

The main scopes of the summer school are

  • Pattern recognition, computer vision, and machine learning
  • Motion detection and object tracking
  • Event, situation, behaviour, threat modelling/simulation/recognition
  • Biometrics, face detection and recognition
  • Security and safety
  • Privacy: legal, ethical, social, and economical issues
  • Multimodal surveillance
  • 3D vision
  • Multi-camera calibration
  • Video/audio-based human behaviour analysis
  • Emotional based content classification and organization
  • 2D/3D feature extraction
  • 3D data processing and visualization
  • Multimedia content analysis and understanding

The MediaSense 2012 registration fee for each student also covers full attendance at WIAMIS 2012 hosted by Dublin City University immediately after MediaSense 2012, on the 23rd-25th May.
